Fondtech - About the company PDF Print E-mail

FondTech was founded in 1993 by leading aerodynamicist, Jean-Claude Migeot, in partnership with Gabriele Rumi, owner of major wheel manufacturer Fondmetal. Fondtech is today one of the world’s leading suppliers of specialist aerodynamic design and development capabilities to the professional motorsports industry.

With considerable focus on wind-tunnel testing, scale modelling techniques and computer simulations, FondTech has over the years, assisted numerous racing teams to major international victories including: the F1 World Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships (Renault F1); DTM and ITC titles (Mercedes AMG); FIA GT World Championship titles (Mercedes-AMG); Le Mans and American Le Mans Series titles (Audi Sport).

FondTech’s roots in Formula 1 came under the guise of the Fondmetal company, owned by co-founder Rumi. Fondmetal had been a leading supplier of wheels to much of the grid for more than a decade and between 1990 and 1992 the company also became an entrant in itself, fielding the Fondmetal Formula 1 team. More recently, from 1997 to 2001, Fondmetal was also a major shareholder in Minardi.

Since 1993, FondTech has built its own Formula 1 pedigree, providing major aerodynamic support to teams such as Renault, Benetton, Tyrrell and Minardi right up to the present day.

The company’s premises, which consist of a covered area of 2,100m² (including state-of-the-art wind tunnel) and a total area of 10,800m², are located in Northern Italy in Casumaro di Cento, Ferrara, just 15kms from Cento and 50kms from Bologna international airport.
